The Mystery of the Missing Meetings in Midlothian, Illinois

While Mayor Sharon Rybak may have campaigned on a platform of transparency in 2013, her call for the Village Board to mirror the Park District’s meeting schedule of one Committee and one Regular meeting back in July 2014 put into motion a snowball effect that hit a major wall when Rybak called for the tax hike in November 2014.  There were even questions about whether or not proper notice of the change of schedule was ever distributed and published as called for by law.

This issue became heated at the beginning of 2015 in which the Board wanted to have their full schedule restored and Village Attorney William “Bill” Gleason was in full sales mode, suggesting that it would be much easier for a meeting to be added to the schedule as a “special” meeting than the existing burden of 4 meetings a month.
