Midlothian Music Oldest Single-Owned Business in Midlothian at 66

midlothianmusiclogoCelebrating their 66th birthday this year, Midlothian Music (Facebook) is the oldest single-owner business here in the Village of Midlothian.

Original owner Ron Lekavich can still be seen at one of their two stores (the other is in Orland Park), sometimes teaching students or even ringing up customers while his son, John Lekavich handles the day to day operations as well as imparting his repair and instrument building talents on a fairly regular basis.

Parents who once took music lessons and/or bought instruments at Midlothian Music are now bringing in their children for the same thing.  Many working musicians have made a trip or two into the store for a copy of the Illinois Entertainer (the Midlothian store is the only known storefront for miles that still carries the publication in its paper form) or to check the bulletin board by the door for something music-related.
