Hand-Crafted Police Blotter List (July 2016 through January 2017)

At a recent board meeting, a resident asked of the Village Board of Trustees to evaluate what could be done to better inform the public about an uptick in thefts, especially during daylight hours.

As the Village can only send the information out to those who are interested, there are still unknown reasons why local print news media outlets have been reluctant to publish such lists of public information under their banners.  I myself receive an email from the Village containing this information on a fairly regular basis and I decided to present them in a format reflecting first the activity and then perhaps a further explanation of the incident.

I went ahead and took a few liberties with the data, such as creating a consistent labeling system for the general activity as well as cleaning up extra spaces, punctuation and other elements that influence search and sort abilities of the list, but other than that, this information was sent out from Village Hall to the public…its just never been presented this way before.

Feel free to copy/paste the information into a spreadsheet for a more in depth view of incidents between July 2016 and January 2017.  I might be missing some reports, but even without information from every police blotter sent out to the public, this type of information can be of significant value to the safety and security of a community, such as a call for people to remember to lock their vehicles.
